Gamedev: sliding a 2048 grid in Unity

Candy 2048 keeps the classic swipe-and-merge puzzle, built in Unity and dressed in treats. Same brain. Brighter tiles. No clock.

Everyone knows 2048. Two matching tiles touch, they become the next value, and the grid slowly fills until you run out of honest moves. Candy 2048 does not hide that rule. Unity just makes the rule prettier, so a failed board still feels like a snack instead of a spreadsheet.

Swipe any direction. Matching candies combine. New pieces arrive. The gamedev work is in the slide: the whole grid moves as one system, then settles. The skill is leaving yourself an exit when the board looks crowded. There is no timer.

We like this Unity title next to Block Thunder and Bubble Dash. Thunder is placement. Bubble Dash is aiming. Candy 2048 is sliding a whole board at once. Three puzzle instincts, three different thumbs.

Unity gamedev notes

Candy 2048 is live as com.fourmula.Candy2048. It is the earliest game on the current production snapshot, and still the one we open when we want a puzzle that thinks in fours.
